Tennis Elbow
“Attention Athletes: Do you play Tennis – Baseball – Volleyball – Swim competitively ? All Overhead throwing motion athletes…If you have elbow pain, tennis elbow, (lateral epicondylitis), wrist pain or shoulder pain, let’s talk. There might be good news for you.”
Athletes often find themsolves with a diagnosis like tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis), or maybe a baseball pitcher, who’s been told he’s heading for a “Tommy John” surgery. Many promising and even accomplished careers have been cut short by these types of problems. And in the amateur ranks these issues are at epidemic proportions. Something is missing in the evaluation and treatment of these problems.
Dr. Bob Donatelli has been treating tennis elbow, elbow pain, wrist pain and shoulder pain in association with tennis elbow, and golfer’s elbow for the past 25 years. He developed a rehabilitation program that utilizes state-of-the-art technology, backed up by extensive research and 25 years of experience treating lateral epicondylitis and medial epicondylitis, wrist pain and shoulder pain in association with tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow. Furthermore, Dr. Donatelli has been training athletes to prevent the onset of elbow pain, wrist pain and shoulder pain with methodologies that deliver successful results. His rehabilitation programs are designed to fix the source of the problem. They begin asking the question “Why are you having elbow pain, wrist pain, and shoulder pain or knee and foot pain?” The answer is usually surprising.
Dr. Donatelli ‘s key to successful treatment of the athletes in his care is based on detailed and comprehensive assessments. The programs are then calibrated to the specific findings of the evaluations. Specificity of exercises, joint mobilization, stretching techniques, and balance programs help the athletes to overcome pain, muscle weakness, joint restrictions, balance, and dynamic vision problems. Dr. Donatelli’s program can reduce the chance of reoccurring injuries and improves performance. Often times the cause of elbow pain, tennis elbow, medial or lateral epicondylitis, wrist pain, and shoulder pain is not immediately obvious and can be easily overlooked by medical practitioners.
Left untreated, these conditions can be career ending or cause the loss of athletic scholarships—and, most importantly, can derail an individual athlete's dream. The most common surgery in baseball is a Tommy John procedure to repair a torn ligament in the elbow. There have been thousands of Tommy John surgeries performed throughout the United States. Dr. Bob has a program for overhead throwing athletes that can make it possible to avoid Tommy John surgery, while significantly improving the performance of the athlete.
In soccer, basketball, and football, hamstring strains, knee pain, hip problems, foot and ankle instability, shin splints, and/or foot pain can be common. See Dr. Bob before you waste your time with typical treatments and remedies that often do not change anything. Dr. Donatelli’s methodologies are specifically designed for athletes, to help you get rid of your pain, reduce your chance of re-injury and improve your game. Hamstring strains, knee pain, hip problems, foot and ankle instability, shin splints, and/or foot pain can become serious problems in sports. They are more common in running sports that require quick starts, stops, and changes in direction. But these problems are all identifying the pain not the problem. Dr. Donatelli has worked with many athletes that came to him with no hope of returning to their sport. Often times he has been told that he is their last hope to making a comeback. Dr. Bob’s treatment approach is like being a detective to sleuth out why the athlete has developed the pain—to find the source of the problem. Once the cause of the problem is established, then a treatment program is designed to eliminate the dysfunction, with the blessed side effect of eliminating the pain as well.
